How to Find Your YUMMICLAWS Nail Size
Measure once, order with confidence.
Getting the right size before you order is the most important step. A nail that fits correctly sits flat across your nail bed from one sidewall to the other without touching the skin around it. A nail that is too small will lift at the edges. A nail that is too wide will push against the skin and feel uncomfortable.
YUMMICLAWS sets come in four sizes: XS, S, M, and L. Each set includes 10 nails to allow for natural variation across your fingers. The size chart above shows which measurements correspond to each size. The two methods below walk you through how to get those measurements at home.
Method 1 — Soft Tape Measure
This is the most accurate method if you have a soft sewing tape measure.
- Hold the tape measure flat across the widest point of your nail bed, from one sidewall to the other.
- The widest point sits roughly one third of the way up from your cuticle, not at the tip.
- Press gently so the tape follows the natural curve of your nail. Do not flatten it against your finger.
- Write down the measurement in millimetres. Do this for all ten fingers since nail widths vary across your hand.
- Match each measurement to the size chart above.
Method 2 — Sticky Tape
No tape measure at home? A strip of sticky tape and a ruler gives you the same result.
- Paste tape over your nail and ensure it covers the widest part of your nail bed.
- Mark the widest part of your nail bed on the tape.
- Remove the tape from your nail and use a ruler to measure the widest distance between the marked lines.
- Repeat for each nail.
- Match each measurement to the size chart above.
Which Size Should You Order?
Match the majority of your fingers to a single size. Most customers find that most of their fingers fall into one size, with their thumb or pinky needing a size up or down. Each set comes with 10 nails specifically to allow for this variation.
If you fall between two sizes, always go for the larger one. A press-on that is slightly too wide can be filed gently at the sidewalls to fit. A press-on that is too small cannot be made wider.
A Note on How Nails Should Fit
A correctly fitted nail sits directly on the nail plate. Its edges line up with your sidewalls without any skin underneath. There should be no gap between the nail and your sidewall on either side.
If you can see skin on either side of the press-on after applying, the nail is too small. Try the next size up. If the nail presses over or onto the skin around your nail, it is too large. Try the next size down or file the sidewalls slightly with the nail file in your kit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to measure both hands?
Yes, if you want to be thorough. Dominant hands are sometimes slightly larger. Measuring both gives you a more accurate picture, especially if you notice sizing feels slightly off after your first order.
I measured XS on most fingers but S on my thumbs. What do I order?
Order XS. Each set comes with 10 nails to cover variation across your fingers, including larger thumb sizes. If the thumb nail in your set feels slightly snug, you can file the sidewalls gently for a better fit.
What if none of the standard sizes work for my nails?
Contact us directly before ordering. We are happy to advise based on your measurements.
Do all YUMMICLAWS designs come in all four sizes?
Yes. All sets are available in XS, S, M, and L with 10 nails per set.
Can I use the size I ordered last time for my next order?
Yes. Once you know your size, it stays the same across all YUMMICLAWS sets. You only need to measure once.
